In June, Seoul National University Hospital signed a clinical training contract with the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) under the Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs at the Saudi-Korea Partnership Convention hosted by Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA). Under the agreement, Seoul National University Hospital will teach Korea's advanced clinical trial capability to about 80 KAIMRC staff for two years. Especially, the contract is more meaningful as it is under 'VISION 2030,' which Saudi Arabia is pushing to expand its oil-dependent economic structure to health care, medicine and IT, as it is carried out in time for the Saudi prince's visit to Korea. In-jin Jang, director of Clinical Trials Center, Seoul National University Hospital, said, 'This contract is a case of Korea's clinical trial performance recognition in the global market, and will be an opportunity to improve the domestic capacity of the pharmaceutical bio-industry as well as domestic clinical trials to the international level.'
