Hanyang University Medical Center’s Cancer Center announced on the 3rd of this month that it held a ceremony on May 30th at the Cancer Center on the 4th floor of the West Building to celebrate reaching 500 cases of multidisciplinary lung cancer treatment.
Since 2014, the multidisciplinary lung cancer treatment team at Hanyang University Medical Center has provided care for lung cancer patients. This collaborative medical system comprises departments such as Respiratory Allergy Medicine, Hematology Oncology, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, and Pain Medicine, offering treatments including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and radiofrequency ablation.
From 2021 to 2023, the team conducted a satisfaction survey among the more than 500 lung cancer patients it treated. The results showed over 90% satisfaction in six categories: △understanding of the disease, △assistance in treatment choice, △individual care, △consideration by medical staff, △cooperation among medical staff, and △time management. Additionally, over 80% satisfaction was recorded in all nine categories, including △allocated time, △overall satisfaction, and △the level of consultation and treatment.
Dr. Park Dong-won, the head of the multidisciplinary lung cancer treatment team and professor of Respiratory Allergy Medicine, stated, "The multidisciplinary lung cancer treatment team achieved high patient satisfaction thanks to the active cooperation and care of all medical staff, allowing us to develop and implement customized treatment plans."
Professor Tae Kyung, head of the Cancer Center and a professor of Otolaryngology, remarked, "The Cancer Center provides optimal customized treatment for cancer patients by closely analyzing each patient’s stage and type of cancer. Achieving the 500th case of multidisciplinary lung cancer treatment was made possible through our specialized multidisciplinary treatment system and the active cooperation of all medical staff."
