HanGil Eye Hospital Trains Malagasy Doctors in Cataract Surgery and Other Ophthalmic Techniques  HanGil Eye Hospital (President: Choi Jin-young) announced that it has trained ophthalmologists from Madagascar in various specialized ophthalmic techniques, including cataract surgery, retinal procedures, glaucoma treatments, pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus correction, and refractive surgery.As part of the "Madagascar OnDream Blindness Prevention Project," sponsored by Hyundai Motor Group and organized by Korea University Medical Center, HanGil Eye Hospital participated in a two-week training program from September 3 to 13, held at HJRA Hospital, the national hospital in Antananarivo, Madagascar. The hospital’s ophthalmologist, Dr. Rajaona Lanto Andriats Silvina (referred to as Dr. Lanto), received comprehensive training in ophthalmic surgeries.Dr. Lanto is the only ophthalmologist in Madagascar capable of performing phacoemulsification cataract surgery. During the program, under the guidance of Director Choi Ki-yong of HanGil Eye Hospital , Dr. Lanto gained hands-on experience in various surgical procedures and outpatient treatments.On the final day of the training, HanGil Eye Hospital , led by Director Choi Ki-yong, hosted a ceremony to celebrate Dr. Lanto’s program completion. As a gesture of support, Director Choi used the entire 3 million KRW education fund to purchase books and surgical instruments that would assist Dr. Lanto in further enhancing his ophthalmic knowledge and skills. In return, Dr. Lanto presented a handcrafted souvenir from Madagascar to Director Choi as a token of appreciation.For three consecutive years, since 2022, HanGil Eye Hospital has actively participated in the ‘Madagascar OnDream Blindness Prevention Project’ in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group and Korea University Medical Center.Choi Jin-young, President of HanGil Eye Hospital , expressed, “It was a meaningful experience to support the Madagascar training program in partnership with Korea University Medical Center.
