The ceremony coincided with the 9th Ewha Medical Center Robotic Surgery Symposium.Since opening in 2009, the Robotic Surgery Center at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital has grown across various surgical disciplines, including gynecology, urology, general surgery, and otolaryngology. In 2014, the hospital was among the first to introduce single-incision robotic surgery, achieving 500 single-incision robotic surgeries by April 2017, the first in the world to reach this milestone. The hospital subsequently surpassed 2,000 robotic surgeries in 2019 and has reached the 5,000 mark within five years.Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital opened in 2019 and has grown rapidly, surpassing 5,000 robotic surgeries in just five years. The two hospitals have completed over 10,000 robotic surgeries, reaffirming Ewha Medical Center’s reputation as a leading institution in robotic surgery.At the Ewha Medical Center Robotic Surgery Symposium, the gynecology, urology, and general surgery departments of both hospitals presented their accumulated expertise in advanced surgical techniques through video presentations. Additionally, the symposium featured robust discussions from the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine on rapid post-operative recovery. A session for training nurses in robotic surgery was also included, fostering a collaborative exchange of insights among medical professionals involved in robotic procedures. Chung Kyung-ah, Director of the Robotic Surgery Center at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital (Obstetrics and Gynecology), who organized the symposium, remarked, "I would like to extend my gratitude to all the esteemed professors and dedicated nurses at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital who made this remarkable achievement of 5,000 surgeries possible.
