The Department of Urology at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) signed an Agreement on Implementation (AOI) with the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Indonesia and its affiliated training hospital, Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), on the 13th of last month.
Over the next five years, the three institutions plan to lead global medical innovation through various joint research projects and medical education programs, fostering achievements in the medical field based on mutual trust.
In July last year, Seoul National University Hospital, Universitas Indonesia, and RSCM signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) to strengthen international cooperation in the fields of medicine and academics, laying the foundation for mutual advancement in medical technology and research.
Based on this agreement, the three institutions will collaborate on joint research, academic exchanges, remote learning and online education programs, as well as medical staff and student exchange programs. These initiatives aim to enhance the quality of medical education and accelerate the development of new medical technologies.
The signing of the AOI serves as a follow-up measure to the MOU signed last year, marking an important milestone in implementing specific collaboration plans among the three institutions.
The institutions emphasized that this agreement goes beyond merely formalizing cooperation—it represents a crucial starting point in establishing a sustainable collaborative relationship among the three parties.
A key aspect of the collaboration is the student and medical staff exchange program, which will facilitate the sharing of medical education and training between the institutions, ultimately contributing to the advancement of healthcare standards in both countries.
This program is expected to offer participants opportunities to gain experience in different medical environments, providing a deeper understanding of global healthcare systems.
Additionally, through joint research and technology development, the institutions aim to pioneer the latest medical technologies and treatment methods in the field of urology, further driving medical innovation in both nations.
In particular, the three institutions expect to contribute to global medical advancements by conducting research that integrates Seoul National University Hospital’s advanced medical technologies with the regional healthcare needs of Universitas Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine and RSCM Hospital.
Through the training programs, medical professionals from SNUH, Universitas Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine, and RSCM Hospital will participate in reciprocal training, sharing medical systems and treatment experiences. This exchange will serve as a foundation for further strengthening their professional expertise.
This collaboration is expected to provide medical professionals with opportunities to acquire new knowledge and techniques, ultimately contributing to the advancement of healthcare standards in both countries.
Professor Goo Jahyeon, Chair of the Department of Urology at SNUH, stated, “This agreement goes beyond strengthening cooperation between SNUH’s Department of Urology, Universitas Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine, and RSCM Hospital. It will play a crucial role in expanding medical networks between Korea and Southeast Asia.” He further emphasized, “SNUH’s Department of Urology will actively promote the excellence of Korean medical services in Southeast Asia, while Indonesia will gain a valuable opportunity to enhance its healthcare system. We will do our utmost to ensure the success of this collaboration.”
