Heavy Ion Therapy, a type of radiation treatment utilizing carbon particles, is noted for its convenience as it eliminates the need for hospitalization and presents few side effects. This treatment has gained attention for its effectiveness in treating various types of cancer, with the exception of metastatic cancers.

Severance Hospital, having successfully achieved the first carbon ion based treatment for prostatic cancer—marking the first record in the country—plans to further expand its capabilities to treat a diverse range of cancer types. *Cancer types treatable with heavy ion therapy include prostate, lung, pancreatic, liver, bone soft tissue, head and neck cancers and more.
