Bumin Hospital Seoul, under the leadership of Chairman Jung Heung-tae, recently held a medical conference via video conference with the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in the United States.
A team of 30 orthopedic specialists from Bumin Hospital centers in Seoul, Busan, and Haeundae, as well as medical staff from HSS, attended the conference.
In the first session, Dr. Ha Yong-chan, Director of Seoul Bumin Hospital, presented "Robotic Assisted TKA using the Cuvis-Joint System."
Dr. Ha discussed the Cuvis-Joint system, the first fully automatic robotic joint replacement system developed in Korea, and shared three case studies, fostering an active discussion among the medical teams from both countries.
The second session featured Dr. Tim Wright, an expert in orthopedic implants from HSS, who lectured on "The History of Knee Replacement Surgery Design at HSS."
Dr. Wright introduced the development of knee replacement surgeries and orthopedic implants and explained the optimal methods for these surgeries.
Chairman Jung Heung-tae commented, “It was impressive to see the relentless research in the field of joint disease treatment. It was a valuable time shared, exchanging diverse information on joint surgery derived from extensive clinical experience.”
Meanwhile, the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), established in 1863, is the oldest orthopedic hospital in the United States and consistently ranked as the top orthopedic hospital by US News annually.
Seoul Bumin Hospital is the first in Asia to collaborate with HSS to innovate treatment processes and exchange the latest medical technologies, thereby establishing a world-class medical environment.
