Seoul National University Hospital is passing on to Indonesia the excellent medical technologies and know-how of Korea which have been accumulated since the Minnesota Project.
In the ‘2023 Medical Korea’ event held on the 24th, Seoul National University Hospital revealed that it had signed a business contract (MOU) with Indonesia Fatmawati National Hospital regarding a medical staff education and training project.
This event was held to share the performance of cooperation in the health and medical fields of the two countries and discuss future cooperation plans.
The agreement ceremony was attended by Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu Hong, President of Korea Health Industry Development Institute Cha Soon Do, Indonesia Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Panjaitan, and Ambassador Gandhi Slistyantho, and Lee Dong Yeon, head of the International Business Division at Seoul National University Hospital, and Andy Saguni, director of Fatmawati National Hospital joined as representatives and exchanged memoranda of understanding.
Fatmawati National Hospital, which is located in South Jakarta, Indonesia, is a tertiary hospital with 875 hospital beds and is one of the leading national hospitals in Indonesia. Following the contract, starting May of this year Seoul National University Hospital will participate in an education and training project funded by the Ministry of Health of Indonesia to pass on its unique medical technology and know-how to medical staff at Patmawati National Hospital.
As a result, it is expected to strengthen the capacity of medical staff such as doctors, nurses, and radiologists at Fatmawati National Hospital and to further solidify the cooperation system between the two hospitals.
Meanwhile, prior to the signing of the agreement, the two hospitals discussed promoting education and training projects in the field of liver and kidney transplantation and orthopedic surgery at Seoul National University Hospital on the 21st, attended by Hospital Director Kim Young Tae and Director Andi Saguni of Patmawati National Hospital.
Hospital Director Kim Young Tae expressed his opinion, saying, “This agreement is a meaningful opportunity to share the liver and kidney transplant technology and information accumulated by Seoul National University Hospital with Indonesian medical staff.” He then added, “I hope that cooperation with Indonesia's leading national general hospital, Patmawati National Hospital, will expand beyond education and training to treatment and research.”
Andi Saguni of Patmawati National Hospital said, “It is meaningful to be able to work with Seoul National University Hospital, a national central hospital in Korea and a world-renowned hospital.” Then he added, “I hope to establish a mutual cooperation system in other fields, starting with the education and training project through this MOU.”
