Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital opens Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, begins implementing multidisciplinary treatment  The Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Center held its opening ceremony on June 13 on the first underground floor of the hospital, marking a new beginning. Cardiac rehabilitation involves an integrated program combining education and exercise to help patients with cardiac diseases return to a healthy lifestyle. It aims to correct cardiovascular risk factors, accurately assess exercise capacity, and improve cardiopulmonary fitness through exercise therapy. Cardiac rehabilitation exercise therapy can be beneficial for patients in cases of ischemic heart disease, heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, arrhythmias, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, percutaneous coronary angioplasty, heart transplantation, valve replacement surgery, and implantation of artificial pacemakers. Patients deemed suitable for rehabilitation by their family doctor can receive cardiac rehabilitation education and exercise therapy during hospitalization, and up to 36 sessions of exercise therapy are covered by insurance, including after discharge. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Center is equipped with cardiopulmonary exercise (CPX) testing equipment, treadmills, and ergometers, as well as remote electrocardiogram monitoring devices for patient safety and other necessary equipment and devices for cardiac rehabilitation. Cardiac rehabilitation education, evaluation, and exercise therapy have been conducted since the end of last month. In particular, multidisciplinary treatment is being carried out with the participation of family doctors and experts in cardiac rehabilitation from the Department of Cardiology, including Professors Insook Kang, Kyungjin Kim, Ikmo Jung, and Professor Jihyun Seo from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.
