The Hanyang University Medical Center announced on June 11 that Professor Jeong Tae Kim was invited as an examiner from May 17 to 24 for the medical specialty exam at the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
In Malaysia, Professor Kim provided constructive comments and advices on the residency program in plastic surgery and gave lectures on thesis writing. Professor Kim also discussed plans for exchange programs on plastic surgery between the two countries.
“Not many Korean doctors have the opportunity to take part in a foreign medical specialty exam as an examiner. This was, for me, an opportunity to learn how people outside Korea think of Korea’s advanced medical service,” he said.
This was not the first time Professor Kim served as an overseas examiner; he was invited as an examiner in Malaysia in 2005. Professor Kim also gave lectures on reconstructive surgeries at a number of international conferences including the Indian Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, the Turkish Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, an ASEAN society at Singapore and at the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
