The Asan Medical Center (AMC) announced on June 15 that Professor Joo Hyun Nam at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was appointed as the Officer of the Asia & Oceania Federation of Obstetrics & Gynecology (AOFOG) at the 24th Asian & Oceanic Congress of Obstetrics & Gynecology held in Kuching, Malaysia. His term will last for two years. Dr. Nam is currently a professor at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Ulsan University Hospital and the president of the Asian Society of Gynecologic Oncology (ASGO). He has also served as the vice-officer for AOFOG, the president of the Asia-Pacific Association for Gynecologic Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy (APAGE), and as the chairman of the board for the Korean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The AOFOG is an academic society established with the aims to share academic research on perinatology, gynecologic oncology and reproductive medicine and to educate medical staff in underdeveloped countries. 28 countries, including Korea, Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand, are current member states.
